Awful lighting & off coloring, I know, but I was only concerned about the hair that night, hehehe.

Kit Changes Are No Problem & Inspiration Babe

Friday, January 4, 2013

For layaway mommies: I absolutely do not mind kit changes. If you decide you would like to have a different kit reborned, just let me know and I'll happily make the change, as long as you are willing to wait. :)  There are so many kits to choose from, and I want to make sure everyone is happy.

It has been a while since I have shared an inspiration baby, so I'd like to share this little one. :) The real little baby boy is a cutie pie, huh? I just love his coloring! I found his picture on a greeting card a few years ago. I based my 'Cinnamon Charm Summer' skin tone on this exact picture, actually. :) I also used this reference photo to paint Sarah Bella's (pictured right) highlights.

Sarah Bella In Progress

Thursday, December 13, 2012

I am in love with this baby girl! I can't believe how long she has been here. She was supposed to be delivered in June, but I accidentally dropped her leg into the oven and ruined it. I have never done that, so I was devastated! I had to start all over again, so this is actually Sarah Bella number two. :) Her mommy has been waiting patiently for her (thank you, A!). :) Sarah is almost finished. Her mommmy requested thick hair and I ran out of hair after rooting several back rows. I can't wait to see Sarah finished up. The Ariella kit is already sheer perfection, but combined with my Cacao Silk skin tone...wow, lol! ;)

Oh yes, I also wanted to share a photo of the outfit Sarah's mom and I picked out for her. It is made by Baby Beau & Belle, a very well-known, upscale boutique designer of baby clothing. I have been a fan of Baby Beau & Belle for years. Some of my earlier reborns can be seen modeling their designs. I am glad I decided to go take a look at some of Baby Beau & Belle's new designs. This swing top and leggings set is from their Natalie collection.

Here is how the outfit looks on a real baby.  Isn't she the cutest baby?!  I love her cheeks and rosy-cream, fair skin tone. :)

Dallas Jordan on eBay *SOLD*

Saturday, March 3, 2012

Okay, so I lied-- Ariella was never a girl. SURPRISE! hehhee No seriously, I knew Dallas Jordan was all boy once I finished his hair. I love this little boy! He is such an armful of fuzzy cuddlebugginess. Trust me, cuddlebugginess is a word-- it is in my dictionary! LOL

Alrighty, enough chattering. :) Here is a link to the auction. There is no reserve.

Rooting Ariella...It Hurts!

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Ariella's head is slightly harder than most other doll kits. I abandoned the practice of heating doll heads long ago. The rice sock method was stinky and I had to re-heat the smelly thing like a million times. Plus, it smelled weird. Did I mention the stench made me wanna puke, lol? Okay, I am finished bashing the rice sock, hehe!

There is a price to pay when rooting harder heads: BLISTERS. Or calluses? Whatever that thing is on my index finger!

Crazy, but I root with a bare needle. Shocking, I know, but I was there when the practice of rooting was introduced to the doll community in 2002/2003 (we used wigs before), so I am just accustomed to a bare needle. I can't root any other way. Rubber bands on top of the needle cause my needles to break. Vises and other rooting tools just don't work for me either. I guess I am doomed to a blistered index finger until rooting machines are introduced to the doll community! LOL

Pictures of Ariella coming soon, I promise!

Awesome Mail Day

Saturday, July 2, 2011

Don't ya just love good mail days? Today I received the gorgeous Tanya by Gudrun Legler. What a sweetie pie! Tanya's box arrived very damaged, but she is absolutely flawless, thank goodness. My mom came over and noticed Tanya. Her eyes lit up and she said, "Oh, she is beautiful! You MUST do this one next!" Knowing my mom, that was not only a simple request-- it was an order, lol! So, Tanya will be next. :) My mom even renamed her Cali Dream.

And...drumroll please...I also received an Ariella kit by Reva Schick! This is my second Ariella kit. Gudrun and Reva are two of my absolute favorite sculptors in the whole wide world. Reva is the sculptor who started my baby doll craze as a teenager in 2000. She has been a huge inspiration to me. I used to spend hours photographing her Middleton babies. I am so glad she has kits for me to reborn! :)

Linda from Doll Dreams had a 20% off sale last Monday and I snagged Ariella for $50.36 plus shipping. I love her size and her perfect lips. I can't wait to turn her into a 'baby'. I have so many outfits for her. Thank you Linda for the perfect service and kit!

And I can't forget about the kitty! This kitten is made by one of my favorite collectible plush lines, Bearington. Her name is Bitty Blue Eyes and she is a Siamese. She meows the cutest meow when her left paw is squeezed! My plush obsessed 5 year-old daughter has already claimed Bitty. :) I have to order another one. She was only $5.99 shipped from Rose's website. Rose always ships quickly and offers all around perfect service. I love Rose's shoppe!

That's all for now. I am having an even better mail day on Monday, YAY! :) ** edited to add: Silly me, the mail ain't coming Monday, lol! :) Gotta love holidays.

Jazzy in Progress

Friday, December 11, 2009

Someone asked to see a larger picture of baby Jazzy, so I thought I'd post it here. She is nowhere near complete, unfortunately. I started on her in July, and abandoned her for the Lotus kit. lol

Hopefully I can get to finish Jazzy next year. I just love the Ariella sculpt. Reva is the BEST! I hope Reva can sculpt forever and ever, because I am a forever fan. ♥ haha

Ariella Kit for Trade *TRADED*

Sunday, December 06, 2009

I have a brand new Ariella kit by Reva Schick for trade. My Ariella is mint and untouched. She is made of the older, orange vinyl that has to be neutralized. She is a big 22" girl and fits 0-3 months perfectly.

I would like to trade her for a brand new Megan kit by Heike Kolpin -OR- an Ella Rose kit by Vikki Ebbeling. I know the Ella Rose kits were on clearance at one point, but I don't care about that. lol

Xoxo,
BN
