Savannah Marie's Box Packing

Friday, October 31, 2014

Hiya lovelies! Okay, the coast is clear and I can post these box packing pictures now. My little munchkin Savannah Marie finally arrived safely to the UK so her new mom has seen all of her goodies. :) My new double boxing method is doing a good job of keeping the hair in place. Savannah's mommy said baby arrived with neat hair, and that is exactly what I wanted to hear! :) No more wrapping babies in blankets and bubble wrap. I wish I had thought of anchoring the babies to an interior box years ago. Oh well, you live and you learn. :) I am 32 years old and still learning. That's right, 32, yikes! I had a birthday yesterday, yay me, I guess, lol! :) Happy Halloween, everyone!

Long time readers are aware of the fact that the sun and I have a little rivalry going on. Okay, a HUGE rivalry, hehe! :) Should I blame the sun or the clouds? The clouds do cover the sun, so maybe the sun is not the only one at fault here. ;) Anywhoo, Shaylynn's shoot was a bit of a struggle, but I managed to snap some keepers. My camera has been broken for months now. Most of the pictures come out so blurry that I have to delete them immediately. But today I accidentally dropped the camera onto the carpet and the picture quality has improved, lol! Totally weird!

I love this baby girl and I am so happy she is going to live with such a sweet lady in the UK. I would like to personally thank Shaylyn's new mommy for her patience. JE: I hope you enjoy your new little bundle. :) I love her new name, Savannah Marie! Click any picture to see larger photos.

*SOLD* Shaylyn Almost Done!

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Hiya ladiez! So, I needed to try my new Flesh Stacking Technique out on Shaylyn before I tried it on Eliza and Zack. OMG, I love it! I think I have hit something special here. I work slow and steady when it comes to reborning (like a total turtle), but that's because my mind works overtime developing new techniques! :) I love this skin and can't wait to update the other babies.

Anywhoo, Shaylyn is ready to ship.  As you can see, her Cinnamon Charm Winter coloring was completed during her second phase of painting. She is all cinnamonish now, lol. :) $2500 shipped worldwide. I will do a final photo shoot before the end of the week.

*SOLD* WIP Shaylyn Mishae $2500 USD

Sunday, September 21, 2014

WIP Shaylyn Mishae with added hairline and eyebrows. I decided to darken her skin tone to Cinnamon Charm Winter because I haven't painted a CCW in a while. :) I am still willing to sell her for $1,000 USD shipped as a painted kit. I will add brow texture and skin texture upon request, but she is ready for rooting. Very life-like face! She will make a gorgeous completed baby for collector and artist alike.

P.S. Please ignore my daughter Emme Jae's arm in the second photo. :) I like to take pictures on her bed early in the morning because her room has the best natural light. She often refuses to leave while I am taking pictures. How unreasonable, lol! :)

Updated: Shaylyn has now been rooted and her final photo shoot will come soon. $2500 shipped.

Lauryn Paris on eBay! New Skin Tone! *SOLD*

Sunday, July 20, 2014

 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=301250512438

Hiya ladies! Lauryn is on eBay searching for her forever home. I played around with colors while making her tutorial video. I call the new skin tone Honeybee Myxx. I doubt I will have the chance to paint it again (unless it is requested), but I will still include the tutorial in November's package. Honeybee Myxx is not quite as dark as Honey Berry, and much more saturated than Toffeetopia. It is definitely a classic biracial tone that I see every day. :) :) Anywhoo, Lauryn is waiting for a mom:

Lauryn Paris In Progress *SOLD*

Monday, July 14, 2014

Hi everyone! Geovanni's photo shoot will come soon. I decided I did not like his body after all. I have ordered a new body. Hopefully, it will arrive next week and Geo can ship home. I am very picky about bodies! :)

Anywhoo, this little girl is being worked on alongside another Elodie I have in progress. Her name is Lauryn Paris and she is based on the 18" Lainey kit by Marissa May. I love her pretty face! She reminds me of Jessica Alba's little girl, Honor Marie. Lauryn's nose is fantastic and I love all of her dimples! Based on this progress photo, Lauryn needs a few things in the paint department. Lucky for her, I can handle that. ;)

Lauryn has the Apricot Love-A-Lot base skin tone, but I used the blush from the Honey Berry palette. Zackary, the Elodie I am working on alongside Lauryn has the Honey Berry skin tone, and I thought it would be fun to mix the colors a bit.  I really love Lauryn's sun-kissed Apricot coloring!

If anyone is interested in Lauryn, let me know! I will give you a special summer price because I am in such a good mood! Lauryn has 3/4 limbs, glass eyes, a partial tummy plate, and a stylish layette. brookenicole222 @ yahoo. com

Update July 19: Lauryn is in her second phase of painting and will go to eBay tomorrow, yay! She now has earrings and a cute topknot adorned with a little white ribbon. No worries, I am planning to trim the ribbon. I can't find my teensy weensy scissors anywhere! Ugh, I have some hunting to do. :) Lauryn's outfit is darling. It is a t-shirt and chambray skort set made by Carter's. It really suits her style.

Pictured left is the blank Lainey kit by Marissa May. It is so cool to see what a little bit of paint and mohair can do! I can't wait for Lauryn's final shoot tomorrow. Okie dokie, I am off to finish painting.

Bye Bye Vintage Baby

Friday, April 22, 2011

I just love packing up my babies and sending them home! The following pictures are of Catalina Lourdes' box packing. Catalina is a vintage reborn I created in 2008. I did have some help with the packaging ideas...thanks Staci for your brilliant ideas. :):)

I am so glad Catalina arrived to her new home safely, and that her new mom is happy with her! :)

Hello again, everyone! I have listed a vintage reborn baby on eBay. Her name is Catalina Lourdes and I created her in July 2008, I believe. I hung on to her for a while (storage), but it is spring cleaning time and she needs a new momma. :-) The bidding starts at $149. Click the picture to visit the auction.

Pre-Ordered Porsha & Wanting Aisha

Friday, December 3, 2010

Pre-ordering is not my favorite thing to do but I could not resist pre-ordering miss Porsha by Romie Strydom. Her face is so sweet! I was just so afraid she'd sell out like Romie's other LE kits. I am still sad about missing out on Bronwyn and Poppy.

Speaking of missing out on kits, if anyone has a pink Aisha head (from Bountiful Baby) they want to sell, send me an email! I can pay with Paypal. I decided I want another after all and they are temporarily sold out.

Aisha in Progress - Part 1

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Here is my beautiful Aisha kit by sculptress Marissa May. I have not done much to him yet. I am trying to match up the vinyl pieces because I ended up with a pink head, peach arms, one light pink leg, one extra pink leg, and an extra pink belly plate. I found the arms and belly plate tucked away in my reborning cabinet, so I ordered the legs from Bountiful Baby. When they arrived I noticed they were two different colors, lol! That’s okay; I am up for a challenge.

Wow, this baby looks so real even lying around in pieces barely painted, lol! The second I saw this face in person I saw a baby boy. There is just something that screams BOY about the jaw area. Anyone else see it? Maybe it is just me, lol. I am so excited about a boy because there are two Carter’s newborn outfits that I am dying to use for a reborn. I’ll post them tomorrow.

More of Aisha coming soon!

Aisha Prototype Reborn by Maria Rubio of Adorable Bebe Nursery

When I saw the prototype for Marissa May’s new kit Aisha on eBay, I immediately fell in love! I rarely see kits like Aisha being produced. Marissa really captured the true realism of an ethnic infant. Aisha’s nose and lips are delicately pronounced and proportionate -- she actually looks like a baby -- something that seems to be difficult for sculptors to achieve. I have seen many sculpts with over exaggerated ethnic features that cause the dolls to look like adults with baby bodies. Yikes—I just got a bad visual of the movie Little Man (2006) starring Shawn and Marlon Wayans. LOL

I signed on to Bountiful Baby’s website yesterday evening and I nearly had a panic attack when I saw Aisha only being offered in the “biracial” (tan-colored) vinyl. I held my breath and emailed Bountiful Baby to find out if Aisha would be offered in their light peach-colored (Caucasian) vinyl. Much to my delight, Bountiful Baby replied with a yes!

The news about Aisha was certainly welcome news because let me let you in on a little secret: Trying to reborn an ethnic doll from a pre-darkened vinyl kit does not work [for me].

It may work for other artists, but I have tried to reborn pre-darkened kits in the past and those dollies are tucked away in my "did not work out" bag. lol

In order to achieve optimal results, I have to start with a VERY blank slate that is as white as possible. The coloring on the lips, nails, palms and soles does not turn out correctly if the vinyl is pre-darkened in those areas. I have found it virtually impossible to lighten the dark vinyl. Well, it is possible, but it does not look attractive.

In fact, I wish there were pure white vinyl kits available. That way, I could mix my colors on a pure white palette and apply those exact colors to the pure white vinyl. No guessing games, no neutralizing, no lightening the vinyl required. I wish someone would sell me a prototype of a pure white vinyl kit to play with. Hint Hint, sculptors! LOL
