Super Short Video Clip of Zakari

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Hi everyone! I accidentally hit the video record button when I meant to hit the shutter button to take a picture, lol. The clip is super short (hence the title of this post), but I think it is pretty blog worthy! :)

This photo shoot is long overdue, but I was determined to get Zakari's hairline just right. Millions of mini strokes, four paint mixes, and several micro-rooted hairs later, I am finished. I have come to believe that a hair line is the most integral part of a reborn doll's appearance, so I am working overtime to perfect my technique. It is challenging and fun! Here is a link to his web page with high resolution photographs:

P.S. Zakari is sold. He was a private order, so he was sold many months before he was ever created. Click here for more information about my private orders. I am now offering an 18 month payment plan! ♥

Oh yes, I also managed to hunt down a yellow outfit for Zakari! He is wearing select pieces from Baby Gap's 'Circus' collection. It is the cutest unisex collection. I actually went to the mall and purchased his outfit. I have not been to the mall in years! I have become so lazy and content with ordering things offline, I forgot what it felt like to walk around the mall. Not only did I get some nice clothes, I also got a decent work out that my butt thanks me for, haha! :)

The sun is coming and going today. Translation: the sun is trying to torture me, lol! Fluctuating light is a pain. I am planning to take more pictures of Baby Zee and his wild tousled curls tomorrow. :)

You know how real babies put their fists in their mouths, kick their legs, and fidget with their bibs when they are super hungry?? lol

So glad my 5 year-old daughter Emme Jae gave Zakari his bottle, lol. ;)

And...here is a closeup of Zakari's charm bracelet aka baby bling bling. :)

Baby Gap Fashion & Lash Talk

Monday, December 26, 2011

This outfit pretty much has my name written all over it. Polka dots, kimono-style wrap top, footed pants, a bear applique, and a pink button? It had to have been made especially for me. The little Baby Gap fashion fairies can read my mind, lol! :) I ordered it in two sizes.

Zakari's lashes turned out great! I made a collage with the reference photos I used for the eyelashes. I dug up a few of my daughter Emme Jae's newborn photos. I saw how wispy and crooked her eyelashes were as a newborn, and it really surprised me-- seeing as how they are super straight now. She is 5 years-old. Anyway, here is the comparison collage of reborn Zakari and Emme:

They grow in quickly. ;) Anywhoo, time to give Zakari's eyes some baby tears. Ciao!

Zakari's Almost Finished

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

It has been a long journey with this little guy. I almost put him into the "did not work out" bag. Can you believe that? LOL He was driving me crazy during his first phase of painting! We also had a minor set back in October. I erased an entire layer of paint and had to paint it over again. On top of that, my oven stopped working out of the clear blue, argggghh! Mom has been waiting since June for this little prince. I hope his beauty makes up for the wait. He is totally adorable. I love the Michelle sculpt. ♥

I still have a lot of work to do and I am sure I can finish up by Saturday. I have a blue outfit for Zakari, but picky me now wants something yellow, hehe. I love baby boys dressed in soft yellow.

Excuse the photos. The batteries in Lexus' camera were dying and it is a cloudy day. :( Double threat, lol. Anyway, more of Zakari coming soon.

Inspiration for Zakari

Friday, September 2, 2011

Pictured above is the real baby who inspired me to create Zakari. The Michelle kit by Evelina Wosnjuk has to be a portrait sculpt of this absolutely gorgeous baby. The resemblance is uncanny! The top lip is especially spot on...I love it! ♥ The Michelle sculpt is totally adorable. I can see why it ranked as the number one selling kit.

Zakari is coming along nicely. I am so happy with the way he is turning out! I snapped the progress photo of him with my cheapy cell phone. The bright lamp I used combined with the poor resolution washed out his rich skin tones and detailing. No worries, he is not as pale as he appears in the photo! His coloring is actually very similar to the real baby's. I will post better pictures here on the blog when my new lens arrives. :)

Introducing Zakari Aidin

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

I can no longer keep this little cutie a secret! :) His name is Zakari Aidin and he is based on the ever popular Michelle kit by Evelina Wosnjuk. I am thrilled to finally have this particular kit on my work table. The hands and feet are just amazing, and I adore the marvelously detailed ears!

Zakari has already been adopted. I am planning to post many updates throughout his reborning journey so his mommy can follow along.

As you can see from the photo I have started his tan base layers. I would like to continue building the golden undertones before I move on. Just one more layer of super sunny paint will do the trick. Real Effect's vinyl is so much fun to work with. Not only do I love the versatile color of the blank vinyl, but I also love the velvety smooth texture.

I have a feeling this boy will be one of my favorites. More Zakari coming soon!

Portrait Kits Chosen!

Saturday, January 16, 2010

I was contacted by a celebrity mommy last month who wants portrait reborn babies of herself and her two children. Well, the last time I posted, the mommy and I were still trying to decide which kits would work best. I heard from mom today. She and dad chose the Vivien kit for mom, Michelle for their oldest and Noe for their youngest. They wanted me to choose the kits, but I made them do it, lol! ♥

Great choices, Mom and Dad! These are three of my favorite kits. Evelina is one amazing talent! I am especially excited to work on Vivien again. I last reborned a Vivien kit in 2007, and I would love to use some updated techniques on her. Thank goodness for open editions! I can't wait to get started on the babies.

Xoxo,
BN
