Olympic Love!

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Hi everyone! I have not posted recently because I have been glued to the television watching the Vancouver games. Those of you who know me know that I am a huge fan of Olympic sports. I hope to return to blogging next week with some photographs of my painted Trinity kit. I will also be blogging a "coloring journal" of a Bonnie Villanova kit that I will be working on for a customer. The mom requested a medium brown skin tone for Bonnie. I can't wait to get started!

Stay tuned!

Deréon & Pastry

Friday, February 12, 2010

Deréon (Beyoncé Knowles' line) and Pastry (Angela and Vanessa Simmons' line) make a great team! I was surfing Drjays.com just to see what was new, and I fell in love with the Deréon outfit pictured below. It is so urban chic, so colorful, so girly, and so perfect for moi, lol. :)

These crib shoes by Pastry are also perfection! They are called "glam pie cribs". That name is so cute to me. :) I can't wait to try this entire outfit on a doll!

Pearl Moon Mohair

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I read today that Bountiful Baby has not been able to get any Pearl Moon mohair since early last year, and will most likely discontinue the brand altogether. I am just devastated! Pearl Moon’s dark curly mohair is a staple reborning product for me. I have used it for 6-7 years and I have never had a problem with dye bleeding. The soft, fluffy texture is just perfect for African-American reborns. The hair is so versatile! I can create soft ringlets using sculpting gel, or a curly ‘fro using my favorite leave-in moisturizers.

I have 3 ounces of Pearl Moon mohair in stock, but I can’t help but hyperventilate because Pearl Moon’s website has disappeared. I suppose the demand for Pearl Moon’s mohair is not high enough for vendors to bother purchasing it anymore. I realize that not many reborn artists have a need for fluffy fibers like I do. *cries*

Oh well, I will add fluffy mohair to my desperate search list along with nearly black, flat round glass eyes. There has to be a cute fluffy goat out there who is willing to share some of her curly hair with me, lol!

New Kit Louise!

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

Her name is Louise and she was sculpted by Fiorenza Biancheri. I only have one word for this one: AWWWWWWW! That little face is pure precious! I have to have her. Louise looks exactly like my sister did as a newborn. I sent my mom a link and she agrees that the resemblance is uncanny!

Ruth Annette did a great job on the prototype! Love her! ♥

Now where do we pre-order?? :)

Shyann Kit!

Monday, February 08, 2010

The power has been working all day, thank goodness! It came on just in time for me to do some shopping, hehe. Bountiful Baby restocked their Shyann kits and I was finally able to order one! I have been trying to get Shyann since last summer with no luck. I was never fast enough, so I am a happy girl today!

Anyway, I adore Shyann's face! It is absolutely perfect for an ethnic transformation.

Lace Front Wigs

Friday, February 05, 2010

I have Reva Schick’s new Angelica child doll kit on my brain today, hehe. I have three of Reva Schick’s 27” child sculpts (produced by Middleton) in my doll collection, and they are so much fun to dress! They have cloth torsos which limit their clothing options, so I am excited about Angelica’s vinyl neck and chest. There is a dress with spaghetti straps by Luna Luna Copenhagen that has Angelica's name written all over it! I am so happy I finally have a reason to purchase it, lol.

I am also excited about Angelica’s hair! Rooted hair will be fantastic, but lace front wigs are also a gorgeous (albeit expensive) option. But if you think about it, 3.5 ounces of long, quality mohair from one of the top sellers will cost about the same as a beautiful human hair lace front wig. The wig I have my eye on is $300.

Lace front wigs are all the rage among celebrities and models. I first learned about them a few years ago while watching the Tyra Banks show. I watched a lace front wig installation video on YouTube today and I am sooooooo impressed with the wigs. They look perfect for reborns. Let’s see: I have glue and I have alignment skills. All I need now is an Angelica kit, and I will be all set! Haha

I know I promised a progress shot of Trinity today but I am still working on her brows. I will try to post it by Monday.

Mini Shopping Spree!

Friday, February 05, 2010

We are experiencing yet another east coast blizzard, so I have had a lot of time on my hands. You all know I am a professional impulse buyer, lol.

Nordstrom is my favorite place in the world next to Disneyworld. After I added two pair of earrings (I need some large hoops to flatter my new short hairstyle!) to my shopping bag, I ventured off to the baby department. I tried to stay away, I really did, but I ended up checking out with these pieces of eye candy:

Ruffle Romper by Baby Nay - $48.00

Mini Shoez Mary Jane by Robeez® - $29.95

Ballerina Socks Gift Set by Trumpette - $26.50

Hooded Terry Romper by Juicy Couture - $88.00

I purchased the Baby Nay romper, the Robeez and the socks for one of my best friends who is expecting a second girl this spring. I am going to be a godmommy again!

The Juicy Couture romper is for one of my dolls. I hope it looks good on my Trinity kit. I did not purchase the outfit I really wanted for Trinity last month because I was trying to be good, and now it is sold out. Oh well, I guess if “you snooze, you lose!” I am going to post a progress shot of Trinity soon. Stay tuned!
