Gudrun Legler's new sleeping baby!

Friday, November 27, 2009

His name is Nico and he is a must have for me. His hands and feet are sheer, realistic perfection! Gudrun's limbs are some of the best I have ever seen! I think Nico will make the perfect Hispanic reborn. ♥

Speaking of Hispanic reborns...

My Hispanic Estelle is coming along nicely. I was intimidated by Real Effect's new vinyl color at first, but once I got going with the thin washes of Raw Sienna, everything worked out. I am painting Estelle's nails, palms and soles today. I hope to post a picture of her soon. I am still SLR-less...I am hoping to get a good deal today (Black Friday) at Best Buy.

About Custom Orders and Pricing for 2010

Off topic: I have received a few inquires through eBay about custom orders, so I am going to post the information here for those interested. Yes, I do accept custom orders for reborn dolls. I am working on a new adoption fee schedule for 2010.

To give an idea of what the new schedule will look like:

The current adoption fees will be adjusted upward to cover the rising costs of materials. A high-end gift assortment will be added to the standard layette of 2009, and the kit painting service will be discontinued. When the new schedule is ready, I will post it here for potential mommies, along with contact information and availability.

I am unable to respond to lots of emails due to time constraints, which is why I do not display contact information here at the blog. Happy holidays, everyone!

Gymboree's Babycakes Line

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I am not a *huge* Gymboree fan, but I do like this set! There is something about polka dots I can't resist. It looks like it could be for Easter? I'll hold off on ordering for now. I may end up with buyer's remorse. LOL

It is after midnight and I have no idea why I am still awake looking at baby clothing and YouTube videos. Good night! LOL

Infant Fashion Thursday

Thursday, November 19, 2009

I really like this velour set from the Baby Gap "Cozy" collection! My mom thinks it is ugly. She said it looks "goth". I think it will photograph well, so I ordered it anyway. Hey, I haven't listened to my mommy in years. Why start now??? lol

Another one with puffs!

Monday, November 16, 2009

I miss this dollie! She is a Middleton doll that I slightly enhanced in 2003. Her sculpt is called Dreamer and that name certainly suits the eyes well!

I would like to reborn the Dreamer sculpt again using some updated techniques. One of the best parts about reborning is growing as an artist, and utilizing updated techniques, right? Of course! :)

Be on the lookout for Dreamer 2.0.

Larger kits + kinky hair = YAY!

Sunday, November 15, 2009

I am excited to work with these larger kits like Arianna, Ava Raine, Trinity, Bella, Bonnie and any others that steal my heart. I can finally use my boxes of human, kinky hair!

I purchased the hair back in 2005 from an urban beauty supply store and never found the right kit to use it on. I knew I needed a kit that represented an older baby and until now, there haven't been many. This year, I’ve noticed an influx of kits that are 23” and larger that will look very realistic with kinky hair. African-American newborns typically don't have very kinky hair. The unique coils come with age.

Back in 2005, I used kinky human hair to root my 25” reborned Ashton Drake toddler named Shandi. After rooting, I cornrowed Shandi's hair into two afro puffs. It was a fun project! Here are photos of Shandi on display at a black doll show in Texas (circa 2005), taken by her mommy:

I can’t wait to try this style again!

*NEW* Asian kit from Real Effect!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Ok, so you knew I'd have to blog about this one. What can I say? I am predictable... :)

Her name is Li-Hua and she is Real Effect's first ever Asian kit. Sebilla Bos did a great job on her! I love her peaceful expression. I always tend to go for the "calm-looking" babies. Hopefully I can fit her into my schedule next year!

Click the link below to watch Li-Hua's personal video on Colliii TV. They show great close-ups of the blank kit as well as a completed reborn. I am so jealous of Colliii TV's videos! I should just shut up and make one already! LOL

A Trip Down Memory Lane!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

I am feeling sentimental this morning. I found these pictures while browsing through some of my older files and I can't believe how long ago they were taken! Most of them are dated 2002. It seems like just yesterday I was a bubbly 20 year-old who loved her Lee Middleton babies, and beginner Sony camera. lol I would spend hours dressing these adorable dolls up in secondhand clothing, and taking pictures of them to practice my photography skills.

If any of my old LM friends from DollTalk and Dollfanatics, etc. are reading...please know that I MISS YOU ladies and all of the fun we had back then on the forums. Definitely the good old days... Time flies...
