Cute Emily Kit from China

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Steffi (left) before she was finished up...Emily (right)

I noticed an ethnic reborn on eBay made from this perfect little face and I knew I had to have one! The auction for the completed reborn doll stated the original kit name was unknown, so I emailed the artist to ask where she found the kit.  Thanks to the friendly artist, I was able to purchase the Emily head for only $16.00 shipped! :)  I have no idea who sculpted Emily, but kudos to the sculptor! Emily is one of the cutest little faces I have seen! I tried Adrie's anatomically correct torso and it is a perfect fit!

Seeing Emily pictured next to an incomplete Steffi gives me an idea of how Emily will look with my current painting techniques. I can see Emily will make a super realistic ethnic baby. Coloring variations on those chubby cheeks will look great and Emily has fantastic lips to work with. I am totally excited about this project, can you tell? :) I can't wait to see my Emily all finished up. I have a name for Emily already. Hint-- it is not a girl's name, hehe. ;)

Preview: Prototype Elodie by Evelina Wosnjuk

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Hi everyone! Here is a sneaky peeky, work in progress photo of Evelina's Elodie prototype! He is a little boy and I will list him on eBay tomorrow night. :)

He looks so real! I LOVE this sculpt! He can suck his thumb and take several different types of pacifiers. I gave him a head full of black hair to compliment his "Honey Berry" skin tone. More to come tomorrow night! :)

Prototype Chit Chat

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Hi collectors! This post is a bit overdue because I started back to work last Monday, and have not had time to update the blog. Read on-- I promise there is some fabulous information below! :)

Little Justice left a while ago (sniff sniff), so that means I have moved on to another sculpt. Who is on the work table? :)  I am working on a prototype for Evelina Wosnjuk’s new kit. If there were a dancing emoticon with an awesome big curly afro like mine, I would insert it *here*, lol!  :)  Yes, I am that happy about how she is turning out.  She is so darn cute! I love her little eyes, cute lips, and of course, her little feet are too stinkin' cute. Well, you all know how Evelina does it. ;)

The prototype will be listed sometime in June. I don’t know an exact date yet because I have to wait for the green light from Evelina before I list her.

For sculptors: This is the only prototype I can take this year. I don’t want sculptors to think I am playing favorites, or picking and choosing sample kits to reborn. Evelina caught me at a good time when I was on vacation from work, so I was able to meet her deadline. Unfortunately, I cannot accept prototypes after this one.  I am still planning to reborn a kit from every sculptor who asked me to reborn a prototype! Thank you all for liking my style of baby making.  ;)

New Kit Maurice by Evelina Wosnjuk

Friday, February 10, 2012

I am loving this new kit by Evelina! There are so many new kits so I have trouble keeping up, but lucky for me, this one came directly to my inbox. :) Sleeping baby girls are my favorites, so Maurice will be a little girl when I get my hands on him. I love the expression on this baby! It looks like he's waking up for a meal. Great job as always, Evelina!

Real Effect's New 2012 Vinyl Color?
Has anyone had a chance to compare Real Effect's new 2012 vinyl color against the previous colors? I would love to see a picture side by side. Pretty please get in touch if you know where I can see a comparison shot. ;)

Ping Lau's New Anming Kit

Friday, December 23, 2011

Photos courtesy of Doll Dreams

I am on holiday break until next year, so I have more time to blog. You know what that means, don't ya? I get to bore readers with progress photos, infant fashion and new kits! :) Prepare for the ride. ^_^

First up, Ping Lau's new kits are a dream come true for me. Ping has always been one of my favorite sculptresses.

Q: Why is Ping one of your favorite sculptors?

A: Because she can sculpt the heck out of a baby.

'Nuff said. ;)

When Zakari leaves, the sensible artist side of me knows I should finish a kit I have already started, but I am feeling a naughty streak. *insert super sneaky laughs here*

I have to start Anming. I just have to. I know I shouldn't because I literally have like 13 other kits in progress, but Anming is just the sweetest thing I have ever seen, omigosh! I am dying to add some definition to her face using my new Cocoa Gradient technique for eyes. I noticed Anming has a nice t-zone to work with. Thumbs up, Ping! :) You rock.

Anming (I think I will keep that name) of course will be Blasian. I feel another Q and A coming on:

Q: Why do you talk about and make so many Blasian babies?

A: Because my family is Blasian: Filipino, Cambodian, and "Black" (a mixture of Native American (Cherokee), Southwest African (Angolan), and European (English)).

'Nuff said, again, lol! :)

I would love to see some darker versions of Anming before I finish mine up. I know she will take a long time since I am such a slow poke reborner. C'mon ladies, I need some eye candy for my desktop.

Wardrobe choices for Anming coming right up. I told ya at the beginning of this post I would bore ya. ;)

Randomness & Updates

Hi ladies! First off, Real Effect does it again. I am in love with Evelina Wosnjuk’s new preemie kit, Mavie. I want her like yesterday, lol. I love Mavie’s limbs and lips! I also love her name. It may be a keeper.

I will have to start shopping for preemie clothing now because…well, because…because I am a baby clothing addict, okay? There I said it. Whew. Hey, let’s keep it real and forget the excuses. No shame in my game, lol! *wink*

Zakari is coming along great! Here is a picture of the palette I will be using tonight. I snapped the picture with my phone, so please excuse the poor quality. My latest DSLR arrived and I noticed it was defective right away, so I sent it back. I will have a new camera next week and I will post pictures of an updated Zakari at that time. He is coming along beautifully. Evelina is so good!

Awesome Mail Day

Saturday, July 2, 2011

Don't ya just love good mail days? Today I received the gorgeous Tanya by Gudrun Legler. What a sweetie pie! Tanya's box arrived very damaged, but she is absolutely flawless, thank goodness. My mom came over and noticed Tanya. Her eyes lit up and she said, "Oh, she is beautiful! You MUST do this one next!" Knowing my mom, that was not only a simple request-- it was an order, lol! So, Tanya will be next. :) My mom even renamed her Cali Dream.

And...drumroll please...I also received an Ariella kit by Reva Schick! This is my second Ariella kit. Gudrun and Reva are two of my absolute favorite sculptors in the whole wide world. Reva is the sculptor who started my baby doll craze as a teenager in 2000. She has been a huge inspiration to me. I used to spend hours photographing her Middleton babies. I am so glad she has kits for me to reborn! :)

Linda from Doll Dreams had a 20% off sale last Monday and I snagged Ariella for $50.36 plus shipping. I love her size and her perfect lips. I can't wait to turn her into a 'baby'. I have so many outfits for her. Thank you Linda for the perfect service and kit!

And I can't forget about the kitty! This kitten is made by one of my favorite collectible plush lines, Bearington. Her name is Bitty Blue Eyes and she is a Siamese. She meows the cutest meow when her left paw is squeezed! My plush obsessed 5 year-old daughter has already claimed Bitty. :) I have to order another one. She was only $5.99 shipped from Rose's website. Rose always ships quickly and offers all around perfect service. I love Rose's shoppe!

That's all for now. I am having an even better mail day on Monday, YAY! :) ** edited to add: Silly me, the mail ain't coming Monday, lol! :) Gotta love holidays.

Liu San by Adrie Stoete

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Have I already posted about this new kit? If so, please forgive me, you know I am obsessed with Adrie's sculpts and of course, Asian kits. I don't see many Asian kits available, so when I do notice one, I get all warm and fuzzy inside, lol! I love the lips and toes on this little one! Liu San is scheduled to be released next month and I can't wait. She and Lulu Stoete will make great fraternal twins.

New Niclas Kit by Gudrun Legler

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Stock photo courtesy of http://www.nicky-creation.de

Niclas has such a sweet face! I saw an AA version on eBay and she just melted my heart! This face has such a familiar, ethnic look. Even the Caucasian versions look biracial (or 1/4 ethnic) to me. My mom agreed. Anyway, I really want this kit. Gudrun is such a talented sculptor and will always remain at the top of my list. Her limb sculpts are always so realistic. I am definitely going to add this little cutie to my Christmas wish list. I'd better hurry-- he is a limited edition of 250!

Zinny is so cute!

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Now, how did I miss this kit? I definitely need some type of instant messaging application that alerts me to must have, adorable kits, lol! Many of you have probably already seen baby Zinny by Marita Winters. I just love this face! She has such a familiar, ethnic newborn look, so a transformation would work well for her.

I am such a slow poke when it comes to reborning, so my Zinny kit more than likely won't be ready until 2025, but any time is a good time for such a great sculpt, right? *wink*

Ohmigosh, this just reminded me that I found a brand new Mommy Loves You kit by Tina Kewy on Friday. He was in a box with some other reborning supplies that I do not remember ordering (I know need help...lol.) In all of my excitement, I added some base layers to his vinyl and opened his nose. His feet are sooo cute! I guess he's added to the lineup. :-)

New Kit: Beau by Jannie de Lange

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Baby Beau = perfectly adorable! Another must have kit from the talented Jannie de Lange and Real Effect. I have said it before and I will say it again: Jannie has been one of my favorite sculptors since 2002. Not only are her babies’ faces highly detailed and super realistic, but their limbs are as well. That earns a sculptor a lot of points in my book. :-) Please don't get me wrong, I have tons of respect for every sculptor out there, but the kits that catch my eye most have both realistic faces and limbs.

I can’t wait to get this kit! I love his chubby face! I have so many kits here that are begging for ethnic makeovers, but I love this one so much, I may bump him to the top of the list. *wink*

Updates on Shyann coming soon. I finished her base layers and her creases. Yippee!

New Kit Louise!

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

Her name is Louise and she was sculpted by Fiorenza Biancheri. I only have one word for this one: AWWWWWWW! That little face is pure precious! I have to have her. Louise looks exactly like my sister did as a newborn. I sent my mom a link and she agrees that the resemblance is uncanny!

Ruth Annette did a great job on the prototype! Love her! ♥

Now where do we pre-order?? :)

Vera's Angelica Pictures

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Vera of www.veradollcouture.com is currently attending IDEX in Orlando, Florida. Vera kindly shared pictures of Reva Schick's new Angelica kit. I love Angelica's realistic feet! I can't wait to work on this beautiful kit! Reva's sculpts are just amazing!

Reva's New Kits!

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Omigosh! Reva strikes again…in a good way, of course! She has created two new kits for Doll Dreams. Angelica is a child doll kit measuring in at 39 inches tall, and Noah is a 20 inch baby doll kit. These kiddos are beyond perfect!

I actually received an email from one of my reborn mommies requesting an ethnic Angelica this morning. I was like, “who is Angelica, lol?” When the mommy sent me a link, I was in heaven. Angelica is the same size as my three year-old daughter, so the wardrobe thing is taken care of. My daughter is very much into fashion, so I am sure she will help me out, lol! Angelica’s vinyl torso, neck and shoulders will make sundress shopping a breeze!

I already have ideas swirling around in my head about human hair lace front wigs, and various textures of human hair for rooting. Angelica may look really cute with painted nails (like nail polish)…just something different from the babies. Change is always nice!

Anyway, I believe the Angelica kit will be available mid-February and will sell for $166.00. I know Angelica will not fit into my convection oven, so I will have to figure something out.

Noah on the other hand will fit perfectly in my convection oven. I love that face! My list of “want to do” kits is so long, and with amazing sculptresses like Reva around, I do not anticipate my list getting any shorter, lol.

Natalie Scholl's New Kit

Friday, January 15, 2010

I am sure I am not the only person who has been dying for artist Natalie Scholl to release another reborn kit. Well, it looks like our wish has come true! Natalie will be releasing a newborn-sized kit for reborners very soon!

These limbs are without a doubt some of the most realistic I have ever seen-- and I have seen a lot of limbs. The belly button is too cute! Natalie's work is truly phenomenal! Click here to read more about this kit.

Lightest Vinyl Ever!

Friday, January 15, 2010

I am home today because my daughter got sick at school. I have mixed feelings of happy and sad, lol.

Anyway, I have some time to surf the net while she is sleeping. I noticed these new kits on Doll-Fan and I love the vinyl color. It looks so light and versatile! I wish more kits were made this way. Neutralizing and lightening vinyl are pet peeves of mine. Take a look at an older post on this subject.

Wee Yawns

Sunday, January 03, 2010

Take a look at this sweetheart by Marita Winters! Marita’s babies are always so wonderfully detailed. I have one of her “Little Loves” produced by Masterpiece Galleries, and she is too cute. This kit looks like a must-have for me. That wish list of mine grows longer every day.

It's Snowing...Yay

Saturday, December 19, 2009

There aren't many things I hate more than snow. This unwelcome East Coast blizzard is driving me crazy. I can’t believe I am going to be stuck indoors all day long with my dogs. My daughter is staying the weekend with my sister, brother in-law and nephew.

I was hoping my mohair would arrive so I can start rooting Estelle, but I doubt the mail lady is gonna show up when there is already five inches of snow smothering the streets. I am not really in a painting mood, but I guess I could finish up with Jazzy and my Trinity kit. Okay enough whining about the white stuff, lol.

Speaking of kits, Andrea Arcello announced two new kits yesterday! I just love the little girl, Niah. I think she would look great with a light tan. *wink*

I purchased the Le Top outfit pictured below for my Estelle reborn. I have to search for the coordinating blanket and hat. I decided against using bright colors for Estelle's photo shoot. I am going for a nursery theme this time around and all of my props have light pastel colors. Wish me luck with this. It has been almost four years since I decorated a nursery....haha

Le Top Baby 'Primrose' Dress & Legging - $40.00

Le Top Baby 'Primrose' Dress & Legging - $40.00

I decided to root my Trinity kit with afro kinky human hair. Trinity's skin tone turned out a light/medium golden brown, and the black hair I already have is too dark for her. I am planning to order some deep brown hair later today.

It will be a while before I can go downtown to the beauty supply store for human hair. If anyone else is looking for kinky human hair, the girls at the natural hair care forum I belong to recommended the online beauty supply store linked below. I have never ordered from them, so I will do some digging to find out if they are legit. I will post an update later on.

Okay, I am off to start painting now. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Update:

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

I placed an order with hisandher.com and it has shipped out. I will post a review of the hair when it arrives.

My New Barbara Kit

Sunday, December 06, 2009

I traded my Kaelyn kit by Tamie Yarie for Barbara by Adrie Stoete today. I saw a reborned Barbara on eBay and fell in love! Apparently, this kit has been released for a while, but I'd never heard of it. Adrie has so many cute kits, it is hard to keep up with them all.

I love Barbara's fussy expression! It is so unique. And, I hear she is a big baby which means that she can wear my new Bunnies By The Bay dress. Unless of course she turns out to be a boy...

I tried to do some holiday shopping yesterday and I did not have fun. I get so worked up buying gifts for friends and family. I am always so worried they won't like the gifts. I guess I will do Amazon gift cards again this year. lol My daughter's gifts will be easy because I love shopping for toys! I will try not to pick up any dolls for myself, but some of those Cabbage Patch Kids are irresistible. Yup, I am a dollaholic for life and proud of it! haha

Gudrun Legler's new sleeping baby!

Friday, November 27, 2009

His name is Nico and he is a must have for me. His hands and feet are sheer, realistic perfection! Gudrun's limbs are some of the best I have ever seen! I think Nico will make the perfect Hispanic reborn. ♥

Speaking of Hispanic reborns...

My Hispanic Estelle is coming along nicely. I was intimidated by Real Effect's new vinyl color at first, but once I got going with the thin washes of Raw Sienna, everything worked out. I am painting Estelle's nails, palms and soles today. I hope to post a picture of her soon. I am still SLR-less...I am hoping to get a good deal today (Black Friday) at Best Buy.

About Custom Orders and Pricing for 2010

Off topic: I have received a few inquires through eBay about custom orders, so I am going to post the information here for those interested. Yes, I do accept custom orders for reborn dolls. I am working on a new adoption fee schedule for 2010.

To give an idea of what the new schedule will look like:

The current adoption fees will be adjusted upward to cover the rising costs of materials. A high-end gift assortment will be added to the standard layette of 2009, and the kit painting service will be discontinued. When the new schedule is ready, I will post it here for potential mommies, along with contact information and availability.

I am unable to respond to lots of emails due to time constraints, which is why I do not display contact information here at the blog. Happy holidays, everyone!
