Introducing Zakari Aidin

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

I can no longer keep this little cutie a secret! :) His name is Zakari Aidin and he is based on the ever popular Michelle kit by Evelina Wosnjuk. I am thrilled to finally have this particular kit on my work table. The hands and feet are just amazing, and I adore the marvelously detailed ears!

Zakari has already been adopted. I am planning to post many updates throughout his reborning journey so his mommy can follow along.

As you can see from the photo I have started his tan base layers. I would like to continue building the golden undertones before I move on. Just one more layer of super sunny paint will do the trick. Real Effect's vinyl is so much fun to work with. Not only do I love the versatile color of the blank vinyl, but I also love the velvety smooth texture.

I have a feeling this boy will be one of my favorites. More Zakari coming soon!

Ha, ha, ha! In my previous post I said there were no baby clothes worth posting about. Exactly who was I trying to fool? Everyone knows I have a serious baby clothing addiction...including me, lol! :) Pictured are some adorable outfits I sniffed out from various online establishments. My baby clothing collection needs these pieces. That's my story and I am sticking to it, lol!

Luke's Gone, So What's Next?

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Hola! I just love that little graphic! So true!

Since I have finished Luke, I am buzzing with energy. I have a clear schedule and so many new ideas regarding coloring techniques. I would like to start painting a new kit, but I want to wait until he or she is halfway painted and fully rooted before I post pictures. Until then, the blog will be quite slow. I have not noticed any baby clothes or new kits worth posting about, and if I don't have any progress pictures to show, well....I am empty. lol :) I will be back soon with some baby doll pictures. Stay beautiful and happy, everybody! *wink*

Luke Finally Assembled

Saturday, June 18, 2011

I think I am in shock! Luke is finally finished and assembled?! Really?! Wow. I cannot believe how long I have been working on him. All the weirdness and artist block has been forgotten. This is why I make dolls-- to take pictures of them, lol! *wink* Here are two sneak peek photos of Mr. Luke. I will be working on these pictures all day, so continue to check for more. Mom-- your web page will have larger photos. :)

Liu San by Adrie Stoete

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Have I already posted about this new kit? If so, please forgive me, you know I am obsessed with Adrie's sculpts and of course, Asian kits. I don't see many Asian kits available, so when I do notice one, I get all warm and fuzzy inside, lol! I love the lips and toes on this little one! Liu San is scheduled to be released next month and I can't wait. She and Lulu Stoete will make great fraternal twins.

Luke Sepia/Vintage Camera Setting

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

This progress photo of Luke is from last week, I believe. I meant to post it then, but get over it, I am posting it now, hehe. :) I almost never play with my camera settings, but I was feeling adventurous during Luke's progress shoot and decided to click the vintage option. I love the hazy look! These cameras I use can do so many different things and I just take them all for granted. I took that picture using natural daylight.

Since this photo, I have fixed Luke's lips and nose. I would love to reborn another Shyann kit. It makes such a perfect Blasian baby. By the way, Luke's full name is Luke Dae-Eun to reflect his African-American/Korean-American heritage. :) I have never shared that, but I think I should. *wink*

Luke Sold, Future Reborning, No Prototypes

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Good morning, everyone! I guess I don't really need to repeat myself based on the title of this post, but I will anyway, lol. Okay, here it goes: Luke is sold and I doubt I will have another reborn doll available for sale this year. Also, I am not able to reborn prototypes due to time constraints. So sorry to everyone who inquired. ♥

I have a busy summer ahead of me and that combined with my off and on struggle for motivation...

I would like to paint a second Ariella kit by Reva Schick and blog about the journey. It will be easier to blog about a sleeping baby because I won't have to include the warnings about the eyes, lol. I am also thinking on Michelle by Evelina Wosnjuk and Tatiana by Reva Schick. I will try to get base layers on one of the three kits by next week and see if I have the steam to carry on. Sound good? Good. :) Stay tuned for Luke's final photos.

Laila Ali's New Baby & Luke

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Doesn't Laila Ali's new baby girl Sydney look a bit like Luke? I think so! Gosh, Sydney is so pretty and mom is stunning!

That is a progress photo of Luke. He has had a bit more added to him since that photo. :) He will be ready for a full photo shoot tomorrow. He is a beautiful little guy!

Picky Picky Brooke Nicole

Sunday, June 5, 2011

A few weeks ago NOTHING could make me work on Luke. The artistic block had a serious hold on my brain. I was so not into dolls or anything doll related. Remember that? Well, now it is a totally different story-- I am obsessed with this doll, lol! I am ready to finish him once and for all, but everything has to be perfect. It is 1:00 am and I have been working on him non-stop since 10:00 pm. After erasing and repainting, blending and sweating, I am finally happy with his forehead, yay! I have a busy day ahead of me today, and I know I need to get some sleep. Hopefully tomorrow I can move on to his eyes-- the final piece of this lovely puzzle, hehe. Good night, ladies! :)
