Baby Gap Fashion & Lash Talk

Monday, December 26, 2011

This outfit pretty much has my name written all over it. Polka dots, kimono-style wrap top, footed pants, a bear applique, and a pink button? It had to have been made especially for me. The little Baby Gap fashion fairies can read my mind, lol! :) I ordered it in two sizes.

Zakari's lashes turned out great! I made a collage with the reference photos I used for the eyelashes. I dug up a few of my daughter Emme Jae's newborn photos. I saw how wispy and crooked her eyelashes were as a newborn, and it really surprised me-- seeing as how they are super straight now. She is 5 years-old. Anyway, here is the comparison collage of reborn Zakari and Emme:

They grow in quickly. ;) Anywhoo, time to give Zakari's eyes some baby tears. Ciao!

Lashes So Sweet & Infant Fashion

Sunday, December 25, 2011

I hope everyone is having a glorious Holiday! Our Christmas has been a blast so far. I am prepping for a vegan dinner party tonight at my mommy's house. Yum! ^_^

I wanted to share a pic I snapped of Zakari's eyelashes. I have rooted and sealed them, but they still need trimming. Sweetness much? I think so! :)

Why Are Baby Clothes So Cute?

I am still hunting for a yellow outfit that grabs me. I found this adorable set from a French manufacturer, Les Kinousses. I am in LOVE with their selections. European baby clothes are a weakness of mine. The best part? Les Kinousses accepts Paypal and ships to the States, yay!

I have so many items in my cart at Les Kinousses. Trust me, if you saw it, you would be in shock and possibly testify to have me committed, lol! The baby clothing addict inside of me is still alive and well. ;) I have to decide what I really need and delete some things. I will post my final selections here. Okay, time to eat.. ;) Sending holiday hugs and kisses to everyone!

Ping Lau's New Anming Kit

Friday, December 23, 2011

Photos courtesy of Doll Dreams

I am on holiday break until next year, so I have more time to blog. You know what that means, don't ya? I get to bore readers with progress photos, infant fashion and new kits! :) Prepare for the ride. ^_^

First up, Ping Lau's new kits are a dream come true for me. Ping has always been one of my favorite sculptresses.

Q: Why is Ping one of your favorite sculptors?

A: Because she can sculpt the heck out of a baby.

'Nuff said. ;)

When Zakari leaves, the sensible artist side of me knows I should finish a kit I have already started, but I am feeling a naughty streak. *insert super sneaky laughs here*

I have to start Anming. I just have to. I know I shouldn't because I literally have like 13 other kits in progress, but Anming is just the sweetest thing I have ever seen, omigosh! I am dying to add some definition to her face using my new Cocoa Gradient technique for eyes. I noticed Anming has a nice t-zone to work with. Thumbs up, Ping! :) You rock.

Anming (I think I will keep that name) of course will be Blasian. I feel another Q and A coming on:

Q: Why do you talk about and make so many Blasian babies?

A: Because my family is Blasian: Filipino, Cambodian, and "Black" (a mixture of Native American (Cherokee), Southwest African (Angolan), and European (English)).

'Nuff said, again, lol! :)

I would love to see some darker versions of Anming before I finish mine up. I know she will take a long time since I am such a slow poke reborner. C'mon ladies, I need some eye candy for my desktop.

Wardrobe choices for Anming coming right up. I told ya at the beginning of this post I would bore ya. ;)

Zakari's Almost Finished

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

It has been a long journey with this little guy. I almost put him into the "did not work out" bag. Can you believe that? LOL He was driving me crazy during his first phase of painting! We also had a minor set back in October. I erased an entire layer of paint and had to paint it over again. On top of that, my oven stopped working out of the clear blue, argggghh! Mom has been waiting since June for this little prince. I hope his beauty makes up for the wait. He is totally adorable. I love the Michelle sculpt. ♥

I still have a lot of work to do and I am sure I can finish up by Saturday. I have a blue outfit for Zakari, but picky me now wants something yellow, hehe. I love baby boys dressed in soft yellow.

Excuse the photos. The batteries in Lexus' camera were dying and it is a cloudy day. :( Double threat, lol. Anyway, more of Zakari coming soon.

Magnetic Bows from Slumberland!

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

I have been meaning to post about these amazing bows from Slumberland Nursery for quite a while. Aren't they purdy? :) They were sent as a gift with a mohair order and I am in love! I can't choose a favorite. The itty bitty magnets are perfect for hair bows! I have tried to make magnetic hair bows in the past with large flat magnets and it has never worked out. Slumberland will definitely be my "go to" place for magnetic hair bows. ;)

Thanks again, Ellen and crew! :)

Preemie Private Order by Lexus Ivy- *SOLD*

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Hola amigos! Lexus and I have received so many inquiries about the bargain slots, so we decided to list a $550 ($275 deposit) slot for a sleeping preemie. Awake preemies will be an additional $50.00. These slots have been selling in record time, so hurry! ;) Here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300634249096

This is the last slot before the price increase in January. Updated pricing will be posted on Lexus' blog on January 2, 2012.

UPDATE:

Some inquired about a final newborn slot, so I listed one. Lexus only wants to accept one more baby before the price increase, so one listing will be cancelled when the other sells. ;)

Newborn listing sold, thank you. :)

In Love with a Paint Brush

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Yes, you read the title of the post correctly-- I am IN LOVE with a paint brush. Sad, but true. :) This particular brush is a cheapy cheap synthetic mop I purchased way back in 2004 from Michaels. I nicknamed it Moppy. hehe

I am so dependent on Moppy. Nothing compares to the honeycomb pattern it makes. I have tried sponges, other brushes, and even berry makers, but Moppy is pure magic.

Since Lexus moved in, she has been using Moppy, too. The magical bristles have her under their spell, and I totally understand. *hehe* The problem is there is only one Moppy. One Moppy and two artists. Lexus is using Moppy right now and I need to use Moppy. *pouts* I have been sitting waiting for two hours...

A little piece of advice ladies -- never become dependent on ONE paint brush. No, better yet, don't let your little artist sister move in and share your paint brushes. Yep, that's better advice, lol. :)

Until next time, folks...

Lexus Ivy's Blog

Lexus' portfolio is rapidly expanding, so I have created a blog for her. Her blog will mainly serve as a portfolio/photo gallery for her completed works because she has made several video blogs (vlogs) that she plans to post on her blog. She apparently prefers vlogging to blogging (ahhh...to be a teen again, lol!)

Anyway, it should be quite the fun place, lol. :) Here is a link:

Dear Sculptors

Monday, November 14, 2011

Hi ladies! I have posted on this subject before however, a few sculptors have inquired recently about prototypes. I just want every sculptor out there to know it is absolutely nothing personal when I am unable to reborn your prototype. It absolutely crushes me when I have to admit I can't meet your deadlines! :( I just love all of your kits SO MUCH and admire all of your sculpting talents. I am SO GRATEFUL for the reborn kit market and for the sculptors who admire my work.

My husband passed away earlier this year, so I am a newly single mom with a full time job. I am so busy day to day and I take relief when I am able to work on my reborning projects in the evenings. It is therapeutic and definitely what I love most. :) I have found that working with payment plans and patient collectors works best for my schedule. Quality doesn't happen overnight and the word “skimp” is not in my vocabulary! LOL

I just wanted to make this post to let all of you know how much I appreciate you. I am planning to reborn a kit from every sculptor who asked me to reborn a prototype! Some of the orders I have lined up are for your kits. :) :)

Lexus Ivy's Private Order Slots *SOLD*

Lexus and I would like to apologize to those who experienced problems bidding on Lexus' private order auction. We received several messages after the auction from upset collectors stating they were unable to place bids during the final moments of the auction. Thanks everyone for your interest and support! Both of Lexus' slots have been filled. We will make an announcement here on the blog should we receive a cancellation or a third opening. :)

Zakari In Progress

Sunday, October 9, 2011

Hi ladies! Here is the Michelle kit I have been working on for a lovely mommy (and dear friend) who has adopted four of my other babies. :) This little guy's name is Zakari Aidin and I just LOVE him so far! He is not finished in this photo (obviously) but I have completed 75% of his coloring. I am waiting on his black mohair to arrive before I complete the remainder of his coloring. Why do I prefer to root my babies before I finish painting? :)

1. I like to bake my needle holes so they shrink.
2. I have to finish the painted hairline after the hair is rooted.
3. I adjust the lip color according to the shade of the hair.
4. I adjust the eyebrow height according to the final hairline.
5. I make sure the eyebrow texture matches the thickness of the rooted hairline.
6. I am a neurotic perfectionist, LOL! :)

Anyway, Zakari's mohair should arrive soon and I will have a final shoot to blog! :) I just love him so much, I hope I will be able to send him home...lol!

All Private Order Slots Booked

Saturday, September 24, 2011

That's right-- it's painting time for me. :) But first, Zakari (Michelle by Evelina Wosnjuk) will be finished up by next week, so I will have a full photo shoot of a new baby boy. I am planning a baby blue and white fuzzy photo shoot. I am just really shocked by how adorable Zakari is. I knew he would be cute, but WOW, he is just....well, you will see. :) I know his new mom will be thrilled!

Okay, now for the private orders: Thank you all for your wonderful emails about the slots! I only had four slots available (three Mommy's Choice and one for China Namiko) for the next 18 months. I am sorry for those who missed out....I had no idea the slots would sell out so quickly. I will list another slot should I receive a cancellation.

I will post more information about the Mommy's Choice babies as I receive the kit choice confirmations and of course when I begin painting. I am so excited!

Inspiration for Zakari

Friday, September 2, 2011

Pictured above is the real baby who inspired me to create Zakari. The Michelle kit by Evelina Wosnjuk has to be a portrait sculpt of this absolutely gorgeous baby. The resemblance is uncanny! The top lip is especially spot on...I love it! ♥ The Michelle sculpt is totally adorable. I can see why it ranked as the number one selling kit.

Zakari is coming along nicely. I am so happy with the way he is turning out! I snapped the progress photo of him with my cheapy cell phone. The bright lamp I used combined with the poor resolution washed out his rich skin tones and detailing. No worries, he is not as pale as he appears in the photo! His coloring is actually very similar to the real baby's. I will post better pictures here on the blog when my new lens arrives. :)

Safe and Back to Shopping

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Hey ladies! I returned home Sunday evening and I am so glad the storm was not as bad as originally predicted. There were a few downed trees in my neighborhood and a partial power outage, but other than that, everything is peachy. My heart goes out to those who were affected by the tropical storm. I hope you all are able to recover quickly. ♥

BSD is down again but I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to the rescheduled painting class Sunday afternoon. Emme Jae and I had an awesome time chatting and painting with everyone! :) I hope we can do it again soon. There will be a Q&A chat session on BSD Thursday night for the ladies in group #4. Anyone is welcome to join though. Just click the chat link and start typing, lol. :)

Notice I changed my profile picture to the one Lexus took of me goofing around in Toni's bathroom after class, LOL! :)

Kit shopping is the name of my game today. Not much to do here at work, so I found this adorable kit by the ever so talented Bonnie Brown! Sophia is PERFECTION! She looks a lot like my daughter Emme Jae did at three months old. The chubby cheeks, chubby hands and equally chubby legs bring back major memories. :) I will not reborn Sophia as a portrait of Emme Jae though. I would like to see Sophia as a darker Blasian baby. *wink*

I signed up to be notified by Bountiful Baby when they restocked Shyann. I received notification on Saturday and immediately purchased. This adorable kit just sells out so quickly. I think this Shyann will look great in the Hug Me First outfit I have on the way. *wink*

Shopping is definitely not over for me today. Stay tuned for my Macy's finds, lol. Have a great week, ladies!
