WIP *NEW* Vanilla Truffle Skin Tone!

So, like I said, Lexus and I sketched a plan on paper for our new Vanilla Truffle skin tone. This is an early progress photo but we are so excited to finally see this coloring on vinyl!

Vanilla Truffle represents the lightest AA skin tones that do not have the Apricot undertones like the Apricot Love-A-Lot skin tone. Our goal is for this skin tone to remain creamy with pretty caramel shadows and soft, pink blushing. I will post a picture of the final look soon. I am loving it so far!

This skin tone relies on the Wintergrace technique to cool down the apricot coloring. If there is enough interest, I will publish a Vanilla Truffle coloring guide and a tutorial add-on for the Wintergrace technique.

This baby will not be finished, she will be sold as a painted kit. The completed Vanilla Truffle baby won't be available until later this year. ♥

Angelina is sold. Her new mommy wants me to finish her in July, so she is stuck with me until then, lol! Her happy face melts me. The cloudy light was calling my name today for some reason and I decided to take some pictures. I actually really like these cloudy pics! I think I liked Tate's cloudy pics too. I brought them as close to the window as I possibly could and I'm loving it. I can't wait to see Angelina with her thick black hair and dark eyes. Click the link to see these photos larger. These blue eyes are different from the eyes Angelina wore in her first photo shoot. These are 24mm polyglass 'Baby Blue' by Eyeco. The first pair are 22mm 'True Blue' by Bountiful Baby. :)

He's great as is, he just needs his nails painted. Or, he is perfect for someone who has my tutorials. Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Apricot Love-A-Lot skin tone have already been completed. All he needs now is the Depth & Details (Stages 3 & 4). His creases have been painted and his nose has been opened. Eyes not included.

Because he is an older baby, I personally wouldn't add any extra paint to him besides painted nails and eyebrows.

I'm still clearing out inventory making room for the new tester babes. I don't have any more fully painted kits, only partially painted. I need to go through them all and figure out who I am willing to part with. I peeked last night and noticed I have two Apricot Shyann's, an Apricot-ish Tate Arcello (slightly darker), an Apricot Suu Kyi Stoete, and an Apricot Ariella by Reva Schick. There are 20-30 kits in that bin and I'll put the duplicates up for sale soon.

That second fully painted Presley Awake I spoke of last week-- I can't part with her, she is my boo, lol! :) That sculpt has perfect Blasian feautures-- and you all know I go gaga for those, so she is a keeper. ;)

This little dollie has me wrapped around her little fairy preemie fingers, lol! :) I love how her coloring turned out. As most of you know, I have been experimenting with new colors and techniques. This baby has the Toffee Topia skin tone with the Cinnamon Charm Winter shadow colors. I was feeling cheeky and wanted to see what would happen if I substituted colors. I can appreciate the more dramatic shadowing the substitution produced. I used the Wintergrace Effect to cool her Flesh Stacking colors.

I need about four more days with her before she can go to eBay. Her auction will run for seven days. I can't wait to show off her handmade fairy dress. This genius sculpt has full arms, so she can wear just about anything! ♥

Hiya Lovelies! Thank you all for the trade offers for this painted kit! I would love to trade him her for kits in the future. But...

While my hand was in the brace, I couldn't root, I could only paint, so I conducted a few painting trials. Presley was one of the tester babies for my new Vanilla Truffle skin tone with the *Wintergrace* effect. Wintergrace is a combination of new colors that will cool down the apricot undertones during the flesh stacking phase of painting. Needless to say, I have tried this three times and epically failed! The skin tones are too warm and the babies have turned out Apricot Love-A-Lot no matter what. Not that there is anything wrong with Apricot Love-A-Lot, it's super, but I would like to keep trying for Vanilla Truffle.

Vanilla Truffle is the skin tone my daughter had until she was about six years-old. Her apricot undertones developed later. I see so many fair-skinned AA/ethnic people with that same pink & milky tone, I would love to paint it! I thought I had given up on Vanilla Truffle, but using Presley's photos as guides, I think I finally figured out what I am doing wrong. I need to make several changes to my Vanilla Truffle color palette. I can't test now, I have too many projects I need to complete, but I truly feel I know what to do now. I need to use Presley as a model to make sure I mix the right colors, so she has to stick around the workshop for a bit. She will be back up for sale as soon as I get the Vanilla Truffle skin tone right. :)

The only painted kits I have left are 23" Angelina Strydom and 19" Sweet Carolina Winters. Both are Apricot Love-A-Lot. I will post pictures of them soon. These are the only painted kits I will have for sale before I shut down the sales portion of this blog. :)

Sorry for the dark picture but this baby is so sweet! Team Cinnamon Charm, lol! Well, actually she is Cinnamon Charm with Cacao Silk blush-- at least that's what her chart says. I don't remember painting her blush at all, lol! I can't believe how long I have been working on her. She is a private order from last year, yikes! She is another that sat around waiting for attention while my hand healed. I have a brace on my hand now so I will get back to her rooting next week. She will have straight hair per her mommy's request.

I can see from this photo that her hairline needs work. I also need to tweak her eyebrows. Just a couple of quick fixes, no problem. Her overall coloring looks just the way it should. Nothing to change there. And oh, these are not her permanent eyes, they are plastic eyes. I have a pair of onyx brown glass on order.

I searched and searched for a Spanish style outfit for Kyra, but I only found winter styles. I decided to go with a Katie Rose boutique outfit for her. It is adorable! It will show off her cute legs and I love the headband thingy. It will look great with Kyra's straight hair. Be back soon!

Hola amigos! I finally finished rooting my dear Julietta. She has a head full of brown curls that I will reveal during her final photo shoot. Teaser time! :) She needs a second phase of painting and I am sure it will only take a couple of hours. I want to do her photo shoot this coming Wednesday. I need to purchase a gown for her. Dillards has some of the prettiest gowns, but I think I will go with Biscotti or Wendy Bellisimo since I can purchase these brands from a local boutique. Ideally, I'd like a gown with a tulle hem because Julietta looks like a fancy baby girl...more like royalty! What a perfect face sculpt! :) I will update this post soon with a final shoot.

How To Paint the Toffee Topia Skin Tone

1. Toffee Topia is a slightly darker tan shade of Apricot Love-A-Lot. Use the Apricot Love-A-Lot coloring guide.
2. Complete Prep & Neapolitan Chiaroscuro.
3. Open your Depth & Details tutorial. Complete the first part of flesh stacking (transitions).
4. Add a thin base layer wash.
5. Make adjustments to the Neapolitan Chiaroscuro. The wash will dull your Neapolitan Chiaroscuro. I always paint three extra layers.
6. When you start the second part of flesh stacking (the mosaic pattern), use the same colors listed BUT for the purple color, do not use Dioxazine Purple 02. Mix a new purple color using Pyrrole Red 02 and Ultramarine Blue (1:1).

Toffee Topia Julietta in Progress

Hola amigos! This picture is from a couple of days ago. I erased Julietta's eyebrows. They came out too black and I need them to be brown. This baby will have brown curls per her mommy's request. I just love the lips on this sculpt! I am so thrilled that I get to paint an Apricot Love-A-Lot Julietta this summer for a private order. I also have a Julietta kit for myself that I am saving. I am working on a new skin tone called "Vanilla Truffle" and I would like my Julietta to be painted in Vanilla Truffle. I hope to have this Toffee Topia Julietta rooted and out of the door soon. I have to get those eyebrows on first! :) She is a bit lighter than this picture shows. I had to take her picture in my kitchen as there is no sunlight today.

Someone asked about the Toffee Topia coloring guide and I don't have one available yet. For Toffee Topia, I use the same colors I use for Apricot Love-A-Lot... BUT I make two tiny adjustments during the Flesh Stacking phase to achieve the slightly darker tan coloring. I'll discuss that later, I pinky promise... I have a layaway baby (Saige Avaleigh) to send home today, yay! :) Stay tuned ladies! Kyra Legler wants to say hello this weekend. :)

The sweet smell of success! I love it when the babies get to this point-- the finishing stage. The final stage before they get photographed and shipped off. :) This little one has been with me for a while. I just love the way he turned out. His skin tones are Honey Berry fleshstacked perfection. I didn't know how Flesh Stacking would work out with Honey Berry, but I am in LOVE! I had to be careful with the colors. He still needs a little more paint. Currently, he has too much honey and not enough berry, lol! :)

Anywhoo, you all will get to see Zack's head full of thick hair when I post his final photo shoot next week. It is awesome! Zackary will also make a cameo in my next tutorial which is what is going on in the second photo. :)

Speaking of tutorials, wow! Since yesterday, I have seen four BEAUTIFUL "work in progress" dolls created by artists who purchased my tutorials. I am so happy that these talented ladies were able to put my instructions to good use! Gorgeous work, everyone! ♥

UPDATE November 2, 2014: My little buddy and I had a painting party over the weekend. He looks awesome. This pic was taken before I added his textures. Now, he needs his permanent eyes and a tear duct. :) I can't wait for his final shoot tomorrow.

WIP Shaylyn Mishae with added hairline and eyebrows. I decided to darken her skin tone to Cinnamon Charm Winter because I haven't painted a CCW in a while. :) I am still willing to sell her for $1,000 USD shipped as a painted kit. I will add brow texture and skin texture upon request, but she is ready for rooting. Very life-like face! She will make a gorgeous completed baby for collector and artist alike.

P.S. Please ignore my daughter Emme Jae's arm in the second photo. :) I like to take pictures on her bed early in the morning because her room has the best natural light. She often refuses to leave while I am taking pictures. How unreasonable, lol! :)

Hiya ladies! Please meet Sasha Monroe. She is based on the Kylie sculpt by Romie Strydom. She started out as Apricot Love-A-Lot but I found a Naartjie outfit I wanted to buy for her and I thought the Cacao Silk skin tone would really flatter the outfit. Luckily I wasn't too far along with the Apricot coloring, otherwise it would have been difficult to switch to Cacao Silk. While the base coloring is the same with the two skin tones, they have totally different undertones, or "cloudwork" as I like to call it. But anywhoo, I got it all straightened out and boy is Sasha ever fabulous!

I opted for a clear brown skin tone, since Sasha is an older baby. She wears 0-3 months clothing, she is 22" long and she will weigh 6.5 pounds. She has full legs, 3/4 arms and a tummy/chest plate. She has onyx brown glass eyes and I am planning to give her super thick raven curls just like Kimani and Sarah Bella.

I am asking $2,950 shipped for Sasha. I will take a $1,800 down payment and ship Sasha immediately. Her mommy can pay the balance within 6 months. Once the balance is paid, I will send Sasha's Baby Shower In-A-Box. :)

Hi everyone! Geovanni's photo shoot will come soon. I decided I did not like his body after all. I have ordered a new body. Hopefully, it will arrive next week and Geo can ship home. I am very picky about bodies! :)

Anywhoo, this little girl is being worked on alongside another Elodie I have in progress. Her name is Lauryn Paris and she is based on the 18" Lainey kit by Marissa May. I love her pretty face! She reminds me of Jessica Alba's little girl, Honor Marie. Lauryn's nose is fantastic and I love all of her dimples! Based on this progress photo, Lauryn needs a few things in the paint department. Lucky for her, I can handle that. ;)

Lauryn has the Apricot Love-A-Lot base skin tone, but I used the blush from the Honey Berry palette. Zackary, the Elodie I am working on alongside Lauryn has the Honey Berry skin tone, and I thought it would be fun to mix the colors a bit.  I really love Lauryn's sun-kissed Apricot coloring!

Update July 19: Lauryn is in her second phase of painting and will go to eBay tomorrow, yay! She now has earrings and a cute topknot adorned with a little white ribbon. No worries, I am planning to trim the ribbon. I can't find my teensy weensy scissors anywhere! Ugh, I have some hunting to do. :) Lauryn's outfit is darling. It is a t-shirt and chambray skort set made by Carter's. It really suits her style.

Yo everyone! Geovanni is finally ready for photos. I had great sunlight until 4:00 pm when a thunderstorm interrupted my little party, hehe! Oh well, there is always tomorrow. I LOVE this little guy! I must make a couple of Elodie babies for myself. Please excuse the pencil markings on his scalp! They will completely disappear in a couple of weeks, but his new mommy has been waiting so patiently for him, I must get him to California with the quickness! :) Geovanni is now dressed in a snuggly white outfit waiting for the next phase of his photo shoot. I will post more tomorrow.

Hiya ladies! As I mentioned before, I am making a Natalia look-a-like for myself, while my private orders are baking/cooling. I have received many requests for Natalia look-a-likes, and I am willing to part with mine.

I also have 'It's a Girl' by Tina Kewy in progress. She is in the early stages of Apricot Love-A-Lot coloring, so her progress photo will not come for a while, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case someone is searching for the perfect biracial sleeper. :)

Callum Jonathan Goes Home

Little sweetie Callum J. is going home tomorrow. *Sniff, sniff!* I will miss him. He was surely a fun baby to reborn. Callum was originally designed with small iris eyes, but his mom decided she wanted eyes with larger irises. I could not get the large iris eyes to set without gaping between the vinyl and the glass eyes. But no worries, mom has doll making experience and said she'd set Callum's eyes at home using a cool wax technique. :)

Callum's body is stuffed, weighted and dressed. I have included the large iris eyes, weighting material and stuffing for Callum's head, and Callum's tummy plate. All mom has to do is (in order) is position and glue Callum's new eyes with E-6000 glue, add the black felt to the back of his nose, add the weight and stuffing to his head, trim his eyelashes, and attach his head to his body. Fun stuff! :)

And... I know this mommy doesn't like extra gifts, but I couldn't resist sending a little somethin' cause that's the just way I roll, lol! ;) Stay tuned for Natalia's pretty in pink photo shoot!

Hi lovelies! Please meet my latest little cupcake, Natalia Julienne. In case you did not already know, she is the Shyann sculpt by Aleina Peterson. Who can resist this sculpt? Not me! :) It is definitely one of my all time favorite faces.

I need to reborn a Shyann baby for myself one day. I think I will choose the Apricot Love-A-Lot skin tone just like Natalia's. So peachy and pretty!

Okie dokies- so what's next for Miss Natalia? I can see from this progress photo that a lip tweak is in order. Nothing major, just the extra layering I like to do for the Shyann lips. After that, I'd say she's ready for hair. :) I still have to find an outfit for this baby. I love the Apricot Love-A-Lot skin tone in bright pink. Stay tuned for a final photo shoot.

Hi everyone! Callum's little head is a lot bigger than it looks, lol! I just finished rooting him this evening and I love everything about the turn out! The straight jet back hair is perfect for his Cacao Silk skin tone. He's got a little loopty-loop and all. I am tempted to spike his hair a bit for his photo shoot. I'd have to trim it on top, so I'll think about it. Trimming hair is always risky at this stage. If something goes wrong, it'll take another 40 hours to put the hair back, hehe. :) Hmm, so what's next on the menu for Callum? Some extra paint is in order and he needs eyes with larger irises. I'll have his final shoot posted soon.
 

Camellia Christian In Progress *SOLD*

Hi everyone! I would like to introduce Camellia Christian. Her first name is pronounced cah-MELL-yah, and her middle name is just plain old KRISS-chin. :) Camellia is based on the Romeo sculpt by Natali Blick.

I love how she turned out! As you can see from the before and after photo, the Romeo kit is ultra-realistic and offers a stern expression fit for the perfect baby boy. I wanted to make a little girl, so I decided to play with my darker paint colors and shading preferences to create a more feminine face with pleading eyes. :) I have decided to keep the side glancing eyes for Camellia as they make her seem more babyish and vulnerable. I just can't stop saying "awwwwww" when I look at her, lol!

Camellia is available for adoption. I have the back of her head rooted and I would like to ship her out by the end of the week to a new mommy. I am asking $2500 for her adoption fee. I really want this outfit for Camellia!  It is made by the designer 'Little Me'.  I don't know why, but mint and lavender are the perfect colors for the Cinnamon Charm Summer skin tone.  The real baby looks great wearing it!  What a cutie!
